This coming September, visitors to the La Angostura manufacturing community in Saltillo, Coahuila will see a new logo on the walls. It's a logo that might look familiar to anyone in the automotive industry.
Sealing the future
SaarGummi is an international manufacturer with operations in Europe, Asia, the U.S. and South America. The company specializes in producing a wide range of rubber seals used in the production of passenger cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles.
SaarGummi's Saltillo operation represents the company's first foray in to the Mexican auto manufacturing market. Vanguardia reported that the company is investing $1.5 million into its new, 10,000 square-foot La Angostura facility.

The Offshore Group's manufacturing communities are designed to be both flexible and extensible, allowing new entrants to start small and ramp up to fill demand. The strength of Mexico's automotive industry, and growth in Saltillo specifically, promises to support SaarGummi's North American operations and plans for growth.
The rising tide
SaarGummi is joining a growing number of automotive manufacturers interested in Mexico's booming auto industry. Growth isn't limited to new arrivals, however. At La Angostura, established producers are also expanding existing operations.
HVAC manufacturer Greenheck currently occupies two buildings in La Angostura. The company is looking to expand operations, perhaps doubling its current footprint. Greenheck employs 80 workers and anticipates needing 200 in the coming year.
New manufacturers create new jobs
The La Angostura manufacturing community supports roughly 2,400 workers. SaarGummi's new operation will initially add 15 to 20 new jobs, and allows the company to develop the installation while testing the business climate in Saltillo.
Shelter programs offer an opportunity for companies to establish a working presence in Mexico while building relationships with the growing automotive industry. Vanguardia reported that the company intended to start small with the production of rubber seals for car doors. Given SaarGummi's broad listing of products, there is plenty of opportunity for growth in Mexico.
