Where Are LG Appliances Made?

It’s not a functional home without the right appliances. With them, people are able to carry out tasks such as cooking and cleaning in a faster, simpler, and more seamless way. Knowing this, homeowners are becoming more critical about which brands they invest in, putting a premium on goods that bring quality and longevity, while staying in a reasonable price range. An example of a brand that delivers this is LG, a South Korean brand with more than just one appliance manufacturing location. They produce their line of products in South Korea, China, the USA, Mexico, and a couple of other sites in Europe and Asia, making their affordable, high-quality appliances more accessible to customers all over the globe.

What Is LG?

LG is a South Korean multinational conglomerate that operates in over 80 countries worldwide, producing electronics, chemicals, and telecommunications products, including major and small home appliances. Through their subsidiaries, they’re also active in other industries, such as engineering, information technology, and power generation.

What Products Does LG SE Sell?

LG produces a wide range of different products, spanning from small household items to large business solutions. Here’s what you can find in their catalog:

Home Appliance and Air Solution

LG makes major home appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, cooking appliances, air conditioners, and other built-in appliances. They also produce small home appliances like vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, and dehumidifiers.

Home Entertainment

Many people’s first introduction to LG is through their home entertainment products, which include televisions, monitors, personal computers and accessories, and audio and video devices. LG also produces smartphones.

Vehicle Component Solutions

LG also manufactures products for vehicles, such as in-vehicle infotainment (audio and TV), heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) units, and motor and vehicle engineering.

Business Solutions

Aside from households, LG offers business solutions in the form of commercial display solutions, solar solutions, energy storage systems (ESS), and energy management solutions (EMS).

Where Are LG Appliances Made?

LG appliances aren’t made in just one place. To cater to their international market, they’ve set up production sites in several countries in different regions. Most of their products are primarily manufactured in South Korea, with some being made in China. These branches, however, mainly cater to their Asian market. Further west, LG has manufacturing sites in the USA and they take up a large market share of home appliance manufacturing in Mexico to address needs in the North and South American markets. They also have outlets in Europe and other countries in Asia.

South Korea

Being a South Korean company, it makes sense that a large chunk of LG’s manufacturing plants are stationed in the country. LG has several factories in South Korea, each one assembling various appliances and electronics. These products make their way to many countries and territories, mostly in Asia and Australia.

In recent years, however, LG’s South Korean plants have decreased production, with the company relocating manufacturing to other parts of the world.

China

LG’s manufacturing sites in China are quite large-scale, with each of them producing numerous electronics. One plant, for example, focuses on OLED displays that are in demand, and they can produce over 1 million units just for the local market.

The products from LG’s China manufacturing sites mostly stay inside the country to address local market demand, though they also ship some products and parts to other parts of the world, particularly in Asia, Africa, and the US.

USA

A few years ago, LG constructed a massive factory in Tennessee, where the brand will have most of its appliances for the US market produced. This plant streamlines production and delivery for markets in North and South America, making them more accessible to these Western markets.

Mexico

LG also has three large manufacturing plants in Mexico to aid in the production of appliances meant for Western markets. The biggest one is for Monterrey, while the other two are in Reynosa and Mexicali.

Mexico has been a popular manufacturing site for many appliance and electronics facilities. For years, the LG factories here have been making thousands of products for North and South American consumers.

Other Locations in Europe and Asia

Aside from these four main manufacturing countries, LG also has production sites in Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Poland, and Russia.

Are LG Appliances Any Good?

LG has long been a household name. One of the main reasons behind LG’s success is their strategic placements of manufacturing plants, where they’re able to produce and deliver products more quickly while keeping down costs, translating to reliable yet affordable appliances.
